Vance Pitman is the founding pastor of the Hope Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a creative thinker, he had a vision to launch a church that understood it was being born for something bigger than itself, thus Hope Church was launched in the fall of 2001. Hope’s core group of eighteen people has grown to almost 2000 people over the past eight years. The church currently meets, weekly, in a public high school. His plans to launch a network of church plants that would work together to impact the community and partner globally are well underway.
Hope Church has given over one million dollars, annually, towards partnerships and projects targeting community transformation, nation building, training of leaders, and sharing the message of the gospel. One example of this is their involvement in the launching of Surgance, Inc. The mission of Surgance is to channel uncommon partners toward common ground social issues in order to change lives and transform communities for the better. Through Surgance, more than 400 communities have been physically transformed by corporations, governments, and nonprofits working together with compassion and generosity.
Vance speaks all over the nation to stimulate awareness that the genuine expression of God’s love is very needed in our own country as well as all over the world. His expositional teachings and command of the diverse biblical vernacular captivate his audience to where the question is raised of how can I be more involved in God’s global activity through serving others? He has mobilized partnerships and trained national leaders on five continents.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in History and a minor in Business Management from the University of North Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
Vance resides in Henderson, Nevada with his wife Kristie of 18 years and his four children, Hannah-17, Caleb-15, Elijah-13 and Faith-6.
